Overview

Weekly Objective:
In Week Two, we will be focusing on creating the general layout of our website. We will also set some of the essential global settings on our website such as Navigation Bar and Footer. Furthermore, we will be getting more familiar with WordPress and Divi by building out some of the pages our website might need. Additionally, we will be taking a look at different types of websites and the components comprising them.

Requirements:
  • WordPress website (either from Week 1 or an equivalent installation of WordPress)
  • Laptop (or iPad with keyboard)
  • A stable internet connection to be able to watch the stream, interact on X spaces, and access online tools
  • General idea of what you want your website to be

Resources:
  • Divi Documentation and Tutorials - Divi provides great documentation on how to get started with their builder. I highly recommend reading through it and trying to edit a page. They walk you through some of the activities and basics of interacting with Divi.
  • Divi Layout - Divi provides hundreds of layouts. You can view all of them here. I recommend picking one layout and sticking with it throughout the website. Each layout pack contain several pages that you can edit and adjust to reflect your brand.
  • DigitalOcean x TSI Hosting - Everyone who attended Week One was able to sign up and claim their free cPanel. This platform has your log in information. Everyone who attended Week One has been verified and approved for a free cPanel.
  • cPanel Access - This is a direct link to the cPanel login screen. You can also go to yourdomain/cpanel to access it.
  • AI Tutor - Since WordPress and Divi are quite popular frameworks, you can use AI Tutor Plus to help you with creating and editing your website.
  • Pixio - Eventually, you will need images for your website. In Pixio you can generate images, remove background, create graphics. Additionally, you retain full ownership of all the images created in Pixio.
