Weekly Objective:
In Week Four, we will be diving deeper into using Divi Builder for our WordPress websites. We will use Divi to build reusable layouts and integrate them within different parts of the website such as the blog posts. Additionally, we will practice using Divi by building a page from scratch and exploring different modules Divi provides in their builder. Moreover, we will also focus on creating comprehensive navigation for our website and explore plugins such as Mega Menu which allows us to build more expansive menus.

Week 4 Recording

Requirements:
  • WordPress website (either from Week 1 or an equivalent installation of WordPress)
  • Laptop (or iPad with keyboard)
  • A stable internet connection to be able to watch the stream, interact on X spaces, and access online tools
  • A few pages already created during Week 2 and Week 2 Review
  • A logo to add to the website
  • Potential site title and tagline for your website.

Resources:

  • DigitalOcean x TSI Hosting - Everyone who attended Week One was able to sign up and claim their free cPanel. This platform has your log in information. Everyone who attended Week One has been verified and approved for a free cPanel.
  • cPanel Access - This is a direct link to the cPanel login screen. You can also go to yourdomain/cpanel to access it.
  • AI Tutor - Since WordPress and Divi are quite popular frameworks, you can use AI Tutor Plus to help you with creating and editing your website.
  • Pixio - Eventually, you will need images for your website. In Pixio you can generate images, remove backgrounds, and create graphics. Additionally, you retain full ownership of all the images created in Pixio.
  • Divi Documentation and Tutorials - Divi provides great documentation on how to get started with their builder. I highly recommend reading through it and trying to edit a page. They walk you through some of the activities and basics of interacting with Divi.
  • Mega Menu - this plugin gives you more control over the design and layout of site navigation. You can then add any WordPress widget to your menu, restyle your menu using the theme editor, and change the menu behavior using the built-in settings.
  • Classic Editor - this is an official plugin from the WordPress team that replaces the default page editor with the original WordPress editor which has better capabilities for code.
  • Week 1-3 Recordings -recordings of previous spaces, including the recaps. This playlist is constantly updated with the most recent videos.
